DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION

Oil on canvas, 146 x 184 cm.

The painting "Death of a Holy Bishop to whom the Redeemer Appears" is a work of art created by the Tuscan painter Francesco Nasini and is part of the 17th-century Tuscan Baroque period.

Today, the work can be admired in the Civic Museum of Archaeology and Sacred Art, Palazzo Corboli.

The painting originally comes from the local church of San Francesco and depicts a powerful and faith-filled moment: the Holy Bishop is on his deathbed, surrounded by an atmosphere of prayer, and Jesus Christ appears in the final moments of the bishop's life to welcome his soul to heaven.

The painter uses rich colors, deep plays of light and shadow, and highly expressive gestures to depict the strong spiritual bond between earth and heaven.
