DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
The Annunciation is an oil on canvas painting created in 1592 by the Sienese painter Francesco Vanni.
This painting, housed in the Church of Saints Flora and Lucilla in Torrita, represents one of the most important examples of Late Mannerism of the Sienese school.
The work is displayed in the oldest religious building located within the walls of the medieval castle.
The canvas was originally painted for the high altar of the nearby Church of the Santissima Annunziata, built at the end of the 16th century, and was only later transferred to the Church of Saints Flora and Lucilla to enrich its art collection.
